Freshly set out tobacco plants...from the greenhouse flats to the field.
We often say that we are just as weather dependent as a farmer. We want to track this year the process of one local crop we have all grown up raising and working: tobacco. Why? Our season is very much like farming tobacco. We still our fields in preparation for our season, then we plant our first weekend under us and hope that the rains come enough to keep the creek up, but not too much, as too much rain is bad for the crop too.
We know many of you don't know the process or the seasons of tobacco, so we want to bring them to you. Know matter what your feelings are about tobacco use, thus crop feeds a lot of families and keeps many people at work. So have some respect for that farmer..it is one of the toughest jobs anywhere.
