Meet the 2019 Canoe Kentucky family! Be sure to say hi to us if you recognize us from our page! We have a very eclectic mix of employees, with many different backgrounds, but we all share a great passion for the world of paddlesports, and doing what we can to make sure others have the opportunity to experience nature in a way that has become so rare in today's society.
As Canoe Kentucky moves into a new age and maturity, Allison is there to take it on. She has been with the business her whole life, learning to drive at 16 in a shuttle van. She has been full time for the past 18 years. She has worked in every capacity of the business, and is the welcome face most people see upon entering our shop. In her free time, she enjoys helping to grow the female population in the sports of canoeing and kayaking, and getting her 2 sons and daughter out on the water. She and Nathan home school all three of their children. Allison also holds a 100 Ton Master USCG license, which she and Nathan both use to operate our sister company, KY River Tours.
Nathan came to Canoe Kentucky in 2002, with a background in Outdoor Recreation. He takes his ownership in the business seriously, especially the instruction and safety portion of the operation. He is an American Canoe Association Instructor Trainer, a Swift Water Rescue Technician and a Wilderness EMT. He has dedicated a lot of time to the sport of whitewater kayaking, however his roots and his passion are still in canoeing. He has also spent a considerable amount of time in the SUP world. His drive in life is seeing more kids on the water, including his own 3 children. Nathan also holds a 100 Ton Master USCG license, which he and Allison both use to operate our sister company, KY River Tours.
Chad came to us in 2015 after working part time for two years. He finally left his other job of 18 years to join us full time. Chad loves to get out on the creek and fish, and has been known to run a rapid or two as well. Chad also has a lot of experience in vehicles, construction and general maintainence, so you will see him in that role quite often. A people person, don't be surprised to find yourself engaged in one of his stories!
Chris has a passion for everything outdoors. He has spent more than 12 years in the world of outdoor recreation--if we're being honest, it’s because math is hard. Chris has a background in outdoor adventure, challenge courses and program development. Joining Canoe KY in 2016 Chris helps with outreach to the community and summer camps for the kiddos. Chris is a facilitator , wilderness first responder, and ACA certified. If you are looking for adventure he is the guy.
